Arzouma Renaud Eudes Sorgho

At 18, presented a locally built solar-powered electric quadricycle (“Eude”) to Burkina Faso’s Ministry of Secondary Education (4 Jul 2025) — reported by Les Faits d’ici citing the ministry’s communications.

What they built

Built a fully functional solar-powered electric quadricycle (four-wheel car) from scrap metal and discarded materials in his father's modest workshop in Saaba, Burkina Faso, with no formal engineering training or external funding. The two-seater vehicle reaches 30 km/h and can travel up to 50 km on two rechargeable batteries; it features headlights, turn signals, brakes, a cooling system, a small sound system, and a solar panel mounted on the front to extend battery life. The invention was unveiled on July 4, 2025, earned recognition at the International Conference of Young Geniuses of Faso, and was featured in a full interview on Burkina Faso TV channel Téléveille in April 2026. Eude is a high school student (classe de seconde) who aims to refine the solar integration and scale the design to address clean, affordable transport needs in West Africa.
