What they built
Divine Favour Osuji developed WeArm, a low-cost prosthetic hand that uses electromyography (EMG) muscle sensors to detect and translate muscle contractions into precise hand movements. The device gives amputees—particularly in low-income settings—an affordable alternative to conventional prosthetics that can cost tens of thousands of dollars. WeArm has won the International BioGENEius Grand Prize and over $80,000 in support, and was recognised with the 2025 National STEM Champion title.
